We received transcripts of Hitler's speech yesterday - pretty boring stuff and it will not affect our mission here at TRADOC. Of more interest was the plan to triple the number of frontline aircraft announced yesterday. That is much more than expected. Hopefully we shall find out more at the Ministry of Defence tomorrow. The Air Ministry is upset with us because we are interfering too much.
We have been arguing not to build the Fairey Battle light-bomber and are against building 70 Handley Page Heyford Mk. III's. We argue that both designs will be obsolete by the time they become operational. We also suggest that the 54 Heyfords already in service be sent to Egypt/Sudan and then eventually given to regional allies after any hostilities to get them "off the books".
I said they should build more Hawker Fury II's instead of the Heyfords and asked for the Air Ministry Specification number B 27/35, (Heyford III), to be given to TRADOC for a new aircraft which is still in the concept phase. They really started protesting about that move!
Another topic to be discussed is the Prince of Wales' request to be part of TRADOC - doing what?
It should be a 'fun' meeting tomorrow.
