The IPG spent most of the morning going through the Intelligence information. The latest movements of the Navy, Regia Marina, also which Army, Regio Esercito, and Air Force, Regia Aeronautica, units were being transferred to Africa. It has come to our attention that the Alpine units are being reorganized as Divisions with the 1st Alpine Division in Turin and the 4th Alpine Division in Cúneo.
Due to economic problems much of the Regia Marina remains in port which made our group's planning much easier. The Italian dispositions in Eritrea will be available next week, Major Wingate has promised. In Italian Somaliland there appears to be only one division, 29th Infantry Division Peloritana, plus local troops. There are three Army Corps in Eritrea although a lot of the troops are non-European.
I left for Lisbon where I am now. I was met at the airport by somebody from the Embassy who brought me to a small hotel near the main railway station. Members of the Embassy security personnel are also staying here and they will accompany me to and from the airport each weekend. Everything appears to have been thought of. I jokingly enquired if I could bring my girlfriend as part of my cover and they said it would be no problem. All I need now is a girlfriend...
I shall be flying to RAF Duxford tomorrow lunchtime so I'm going to explore Lisboa this evening.
