Foreign Secretary Winston Churchill meets President Roosevelt and several top ministers of his administration in the White House. The situation in East Africa was top of the agenda. In a private meeting afterwards he told the President that unless the League of Nations strongly condemns the invasion AND imposes strict sanctions on Italy, Great Britain will come to the aid of Abyssinia. There was a long discussion about the implications of the Neutrality Act and how to apply it.
