We arrived in Khartoum in the early evening, tomorrow morning we shall fly to Alexandria via Luxor and Cairo. In the rush I forgot my Thompson SMG - the Black Watch captain found it though.
At the HQ we were overwhelmed with news of successes. We've captured both Massawa and Assab, Eritrea's only ports and it seems that Kismayu in Somalia won't hold out much longer. I wouldn't like to be in General de Bono's situation. Our RAF has been concentrating on bombing their supply dumps, destroying supplies that can't be replenished. Apparently we have captured an incredible amount of weapons, ammunition, fuel and food. Their build up wasn't just troops!
We are also receiving encouraging news from Europe. There's no confirmation but it appears that the Regia Marina has been dealt a deadly blow in the Mediterranean. In fact we seem to have caught the Italians completely by surprise. If all this is true then Italy can no longer be considered a European power. Tomorrow I'm looking forward to reading what the international opinion is.
Time for dinner then sleep.
