Both 10 Downing Street and the Foreign Office deny any knowledge of a British proposal cited in the joint French-Abyssinian communiqué in Bern this afternoon. A senior diplomat who wishes to remain unnamed stated, "To my knowledge there has been no negotiations or consultations pertaining to this matter."
