Just after 09:00 we were all in two buses on our way to RAF Old Sarum. My parachute had been located and given to me. I have to admit that the last day has been great and I'm going to miss these guys. After a 90 minute drive we arrived at the airfield. A couple of Valentia's will fly the para's to Colchester. The other bomber/transporters had already left for RAF Duxford. They'll be leaving for Iraq within a week. I had time to chat with the squadron leaders of 4th and 16th Squadrons and invited them both to my wedding party on the 9th of November. I also apologized that the show was over before they were even involved. One of TRADOC's Hillman's was waiting to pick me up as promised and I noticed that MG Dick-Cunyngham, GOC 4th Infantry Division, was also in the car. "Good morning, General. Sorry to keep you waiting, Sir." "No problem. So the FTX is over?" "Yes, Sir. The 2nd has ceased to exist!" On the way to our forward HQ I filled him in.
