Day 4 on board HMS Renown. We had a meeting with Winston Churchill and the CIGS this morning to discuss our deliberations yesterday. There was the general agreement that if we got involved in East Africa it would also mean a conflict in the Mediterranen and North Africa. There are also unresolved issues - could we count on French support? We don't have enough intelligence about Italian dispositions and most important, we don't know how much time we have.
We now have to draw up a list of recommendations for the IGS. But first, weather permitting, we shall be arriving in Norfolk tomorrow afternoon. My first time in America....
