The first units of the 51st (Highland) Division arrived in Port Sudan today. They are part of the MoD's new Middle East and East African policy to show presence in the region and is a reaction to the Italian build-up of forces in Eritrea and Italian Somaliland. A reinforced Brigade Group is being sent to Sudan and will consist of the following units: 154th Infantry Brigade1st Battalion, Black Watch (regular army) 7th Battalion, Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders 8th Battalion, Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders 1st Lothians and Border Horse (mechanised) 75th (Highland) Regiment, Royal Artillery 238th Field Company, Royal Engineers 7th Battalion, Royal Northumberland Fusiliers (Machine Gun) Three RAF squadrons are also preparing for transfer to Khartoum, Sudan. 7th Bn, Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders
