Major general John Dill is promoted to lieutenant general and is appointed General Officer Commanding British forces in East Africa. He will be accompanied by major general Auchinleck who will take over command of the 4th Indian Division which is due to arrive in the coming months. The Kenya African Rifles, currently consisting of two brigade-sized units, will be expanded to six brigades.
