I'm beginning to get a bit lonely here - colleagues are going to Egypt, Sudan and Poland while I'm nailed to my chair. Well, not quite. I've arranged to have a flight of 6 de Havilland Dragon Rapides assigned to the 2nd Infantry Division for parachute training. They are not suitable for combat operations but they can be used for training purposes. They'll need some changes to the interior but they should be able to carry six troops at a time.
We have also received a couple of offices and hangar space at RAF Duxford just north of here. Aircraft have been reserved for us. No news yet when we can begin our flying lessons but I have acquired some training manuals for a mini-library in our lounge. There are a dozen or more officers squabbling over them but I have my own copies and I've also passed the physical examination - it was part of the pre-parachute training test.
An early night for me - we have a meeting at the MoD tomorrow morning.
