At this morning's Abyssinia Group meeting we looked at Italian forces and their dispositions in Abyssinia. We looked at our options and what forces we would require to achieve our objectives which are to prevent the Italian invasion from being successful. We have no plans to fight alongside of the Abyssinian forces. We have also been looking at what forces we British have in the Near and Middle East which can be temporarily transferred to Egypt/Sudan.
Tomorrow we shall concentrate on our forces in North Africa and Malta and how we can best defend the island and the Suez Canal from an Italian attack.
Things are slowly but surely taking shape. General Gort didn't ask to be briefed so I didn't volunteer to brief him. Time for some food and beer.
