The flight training yesterday was exhilarating - I didn't fly solo but I did have the controls for a while. We spent most of the time on the ground though going through the pre-flight check. I'm looking forward to next weekend's training.
At lunchtime today, Commander Mountbatten and I drove to RAF Duxford to meet Admiral Keyes. We then brought him to General Gort's house but not until after we had briefed him about our Abyssinian project. We stayed for a nice Sunday roast then the Commander and I left, dropped off our car at the HQ then went to our "officer's Club". There aren't so many of our people staying there now because many have family here and have either rented or bought accommodation nearby. I'm thinking of buying a house, too. It's conveniently near London and this part of England is beautiful. It would be a good investment.
I left early because I want to be fresh for tomorrow's meeting. We'll be discussing possible operations behind enemy lines and the latest information from East Africa. Tomorrow will also be the last day of just 'discussing'. Starting Tuesday we'll be putting together the presentation. I have a good feeling.
