There were simply no 3 star armour Generals in 1935 and a corps commander needs to have 3 stars. Even Heinz Guderian, the creator of the German Panzertruppe was only a Colonel when he took command of the 2nd Panzer Division in October 1935. The following year he was promoted to Generalmajor - a Brigadier in the British army.
