This morning our Abyssinia group met with General Gort chairing and because there were also people not privy to the 'real' plan no mention was made of Italy. It was mainly about who would be taking part in the planning. All our French personnel would be going to France as well as the French-speaking members of our N. American group. Admiral Keyes recruited Navy personnel this afternoon when he met Duff Cooper at the Admiralty. I am travelling to Paris tomorrow with Admiral Muselier who will confer with French officials. He will be staying in France so I am there in my new role as courier and will be returning in the evening.
On Thursday morning we will be leaving Portsmouth on HMS Rodney to Gibraltar via Cherbourg or Nantes, yet TBD, to collect French commanders, (Admiral Keyes once commanded this battleship), so those leaving the HQ need to be ready. We could be gone for 6 months so they need to make the necessary arrangements. Other officers need to be informed of on going projects so that nothing gets neglected. I'll be going to Parachute training next month so MAJ Collins will be doing my courier duties while I am gone. There are flights from Heston Aerodrome to Lisbon in Portugal where we meet the courier who has flown from Gibraltar. We plan to do this twice-weekly on Mondays and Thursdays.
It'll be a long day tomorrow so it's an early night for me.
