We had graduation day this morning and we received our Parachutist Badge. Prince Edward was there in his 'royal' capacity wearing his Colonel's uniform - we had to endure one of his speeches. Louis Mountbatten was also there and he had brought Sally with him. Have I missed her...
After the ceremony the TRADOC clan got together but I quietly disappeared to be alone with Sally. After a while she asked me why I had turned down a company command. I told her that I was working on something better. I then asked her if she would like to go on vacation in Europe next month. I had already got permission from General Gort especially when I said I was thinking of going to the Italian Riviera and maybe the Alps too. I have a good camera and always buy road and street maps. So next month we'll be on vacation. I can't wait.
We arrived back at our HQ just after 3 o'clock and I noticed that Captain Wales had kept my desk relatively clean. I spent most of the afternoon reading the last four week's correspondence. There were some interesting developments during my absence. There will be a meeting tomorrow morning to bring us Parachutists up-to-date. Now it's time to visit our unofficial Officer's Club, the Saffron Hotel.
