Because of deteriorating relations between Italy and Ethiopia, the British Ministry of Defence orders the aircraft carriers HMS Courageous and HMS Glorious to disembark their aircraft at Alexandria, Egypt, to guard against any outbreak of war spreading to British-controlled territory. A total of 27 Hawker Nimrods, 9 Hawker Ospreys and 12 Blackburn Baffins from 801, 802, 803 and 810 Squadrons of the Fleet Air Arm are involved.
