We arrived at the Italian border just after midday and passed through without problems. It didn't take long to find a nice hotel then we had a late lunch in a trattoria. Later I drove up in to the hills to get some nice shots of the coast and border crossing below while Sally went to buy some postcards and a street map. This is the plan for all the towns along the coast as far as Savona. Of course, we won't be eating in every town. I shall also be taking pictures of the beaches and harbour facilities. The Italian Riviera is a tourist area so it is not uncommon to see strangers walking around taking photos.
I've got used to driving on the right, (wrong), side of the road - it was much easier than I thought it would be. I'm making harmless travel notes which have code words for military observations I make. We've decided to stay in Monte Carlo on the way back to Toulon and there I'll translate it all into a full report. Sally is a typist so she can help. I may even invest £150 in the famous casino. I need to rent a white jacket, though.
We'll be up early tomorrow - I hope to make it all the way to Savona.
