The Prime Minister has issued a statement condemning the Italian invasion of Abyssinia. "The United Kingdom has been working with befriended nations as well as the League of Nations to find a peaceful solution to this conflict but to no avail".
The British Ambassador to Italy has been recalled from Rome for discussions and the Italian Ambassador was summoned to the Foreign Office. Similar actions have been undertaken by the French government.
