After the Italian invasion of Abyssinia, British forces in Kenya have been placed on alert. The plan is for the bulk of 4th Indian Division to advance on the Somali port of Kismayu with 11th Infantry Brigade in reserve. The 3rd Heavy Cruiser Squadron will provide fire-support. A battalion-sized amphibious landing north of Kismayu is an option.
The 1st East African Brigade is to attack Dolo from the west while the 2nd East African Brigade advances south of Dolo then attack from the south-east. The 3rd East African Brigade advances south of 2nd Brigade, protecting its flank and blocking potential reinforcements. The primary objective of 7th RAF Wing is to catch the Italian Air Force on the ground then support the Kenya African Rifles attacking Dolo.
