The Greek armed forces were placed on alert by the Premier Georgios Kondylis after learning that Italy had invaded Abyssinia. Troops from the 1st Infantry Division of the Hellenic Army are being embarked on the 9 destroyers of the Hellenic Navy. The Hellenic Air Force numbering almost 100 Potez 25 aircraft is mainly located in north-west Greece but one squadron is stationed on Crete.
