At 08:00 the Secretary General of the League of Nations, Joseph Avenol, announced that the United Kingdom, France and Greece have resigned from the organization in order to support Abyssinia against the Italian invaders. At 09:00 a myriad of reports confirmed that the Kingdom of Italy itself was being heavily attacked by ground, naval and air forces. Avenol, although French himself, was part of the Pierre Laval faction and immediately condemned the escalation. Italy has called for an emergency meeting of League Council a soon as possible.
