At 05:50 4 squadrons of the Hellenic Air Force, equipped with Potez 25s, took off from Corfu airfield to bomb and strafe the Italian airfields near Brindisi and Bari. Both ports were already ablaze and coming in low the defenders were taken by surprise. Two of the attacking aircraft were hit by ground fire and crashed into the sea. None of the crews were rescued.
