At first light the two artillery regiments of the 2nd NA Division moved forward to bombard the Italian positions across the border while the two Algerian Tirailleurs regiments moved to prepared defensive positions west of the border. In the evening the French battleships Provence, Bretagne and Lorraine arrived from operations at Sardinia to bombard any Italian border positions within range of their big guns.
The French Air Force carried out 100s of sorties bombing the port of Tripoli, nearby airfields and bases of the Libyan Colonial Division. The two fighter squadrons, initially assigned to patrol duties, (CAP), but later began strafing Italian border positions since the Italian aircraft didn't take to the skies. French losses were light.
