The 7th Indian Brigade, with naval gunfire support has fought itself into the small port of Merca and is pushing the Italians back to Mogadishu. On its left flank the 5th Indian with 2nd and 3rd East African Brigades have cleared the road to the Somali capital. The 2nd EA Brigade heads northeast to support the 1st EA while the other two brigades are chasing the remnants of the 75th Italian Infantry Regiment to the outskirts of Mogadishu.
The 5th Heavy Cruiser Squadron with HMS Hawkins has arrived from the Red Sea to support the 3rd Heavy Cruiser Squadron.
