Rijeka, (Fiume), has been captured and thanks to naval-gunfire support from the Royal Navy the advance of the 1st Konjica Division (Cavalry) towards Pola was making rapid progress while the remainder of the I Army Corps has encountered little resistance heading northwest to Trieste. The local non-Italian population greeted them warmly and were actively hindering Italian forces. The 2nd Konjica Division heading westwards has already met forward elements of the 3rd Alpini Division coming from Udine, NE of Venice. Elements of the X Infantry Brigade from Venice are in Monfalcone, NW of Trieste, but its columns have been under constant bombardment from Royal Navy guns and have suffered heavy losses. The XIII Infantry Brigade is heading eastwards between these two formations.
Four Yugoslavian Infantry divisions are converging on Trieste and its surroundings. The RAF and RN has been targeting the Italian defensive positions all day.
