The 13th Brigade has been transported to Benghazi and is busy consolidating there. The 15th Brigade is responsible for Tobruk to Derna and the bulk of the 17th Brigade will go to Bardia and the border region. A single battalion will remain at Giarabub. The whole situation is very uneventful as if the locals are glad to be rid of the Italians. Libya is by no means a homogenous nation. It consists of the three provinces of Cyrenaica, Tripolitania and Fezzan which were bundled together by the Italians a year ago.
As in East Africa the 5th Inf Div commander, Major-General Geoffrey Howard, is awaiting further orders. The division will probably be in Libya for quite a while.
