Prime Minister Stanley Baldwin arrived in Paris with Anthony Eden and they were greeted at the airport by Albert Sarraut and Pierre Flandin. During a working dinner they discussed the future of the former Italian colonies. It was agreed that in Libya Britain would administer the northern provinces of Tripolitania and Cyrenaica while Fezzan in the south would be under French control. East Africa is much more complicated because of Abyssinia. Emperor Haile Selassie will be invited to London to discuss the future of his two neighbours.
PM Baldwin and FS Eden would be staying at the Élysée Palace so the evening was late when they received the Italian acceptance of the peace terms. Pierre Flandin suggested that the peace treaty be signed in Bern in recognition of Giuseppe Motta's services. One could also hold the SE Europe Treaty talks there if the Swiss wish it.
