The GOC for British troops in Egypt, General George Weir has confirmed that 5th Infantry Division and the Cavalry Brigade with be stationed in Libya until further notice. Considerable reorganization is planned including local forces being recruited, trained and equipped with captured Italian hardware. British forces will administer Cyrenaica and Tripolitania while the Giarabub oasis and Siwa oasis complexes will be grouped together.
It is envisaged that British forces will have taken over control in Tripoli before the end of September.
