The only thing of interest was a call from Lord Beaverbrook. He was a more than a little upset that his 'Blenheim' had been rejected. He'll be at TRADOC tomorrow morning so that we can show him what we have and why the decision was made. I then informed Edward about the meeting tomorrow and dropped in to see MAJ Gaffey. There are Army Ordnance maps and three copies will be delivered tomorrow or Thursday at the latest. He also told me that COL van Voorhis and I.D. White were in Salisbury looking for a suitable HQ. Finally, I had a nice chat with John Whitford, the commander of 24th RAF Squadron. I apologized for not coming personally yesterday and asked what kind of paperwork he needs from us. So I'm going there Friday morning. I'll be there anyway to fly to Scotland.
Sally has arrived back from London with the RAF personnel files and notes from COL Wilkins and SSG Hargreaves. Before I left I asked General Gort if Lady Gort and the officers' wives have anything planned for this weekend. He called home then handed me the phone. Apparently there is a bridge, cribbage, chess and dominoes tournament on Saturday plus a afternoon lunch at the Conservative Club on Sunday. I explained that my Mum will be alone all weekend, could she invite her so she can meet people and be occupied while Sally and I are in Scotland. She'll be pleased to. I hung up and informed General Gort about Lord Beaverbrook's visit and COL Wilkins will be here in the afternoon with two army candidates for the London annex. Then to Sally, "let's go to the hotel. I'm buying you dinner."
