In Bern Emperor Haile Selassie signs a Peace Treaty between Abyssinia and the Kingdom of Italy. Britain, France, Greece and Yugoslavia also sign Peace Treaties with Italy formally ending a short but bloody conflict which has changed the political map of Europe.

In a surprise communiqué France and Abyssinia announce that they welcome a British proposal to unify British and Italian Somalia with Abyssinia's Ogaden province to form the Republic of Somalia under a joint Anglo-Abyssinia administration in Mogadishu. French Somalia is unaffected by this agreement. In exchange Abyssinia will receive the port of Assab and access to the world's oceans. Emperor Selassie says that Abyssinia has no further claims for Eritrean territory. Assab is currently under French administration.
