There was an Officers Call at 0700 and the only thing interesting was a batch of new photos from the 70th Squadron. I'll look at them later. Irvine, Bronisław and I are driving to the 'front' to review Irvine's options. On a ridge NE of Shaftesbury one can easily see Motcombe with the naked eye, with good binoculars one see individual people walking around as well as the 5th Brigade HQ. We can also see the positions of an infantry battalion a kilometre or so in front of it. They'd even built some trenches. Force of habit or just to keep the troops busy. I bet there's water in them now. There are some woods which are in the middle of the battalion's sector as well as the railway track to the north and probably on the border between two battalions. Irvine has a battalion-sized BG and has decided to infiltrate at both positions. According to the locals is was a bit misty last night so we are hoping for the same again tonight. We had lunch at The Boot Inn in Tisbury before driving back to our hotel to study the new photos. I'll be going to RAF Old Sarum later to receive our guests. I don't know how many people will be arriving so I'm taking one of the small buses which have been hired for the exercise.
