The guests of Blue force were sitting in the map room together with support personnel monitoring the radio frequencies of both combatants and the umpires. An Umpire team was also present to explain the decisions being made if anyone had questions. The guests were also informed that a new Umpire's Manual was being tested.
At 00:01 an umpire reported that 'A' Company, 2nd Bn. The Royal Fusiliers had crossed the frontline in a woods east of Motcombe. Almost simultaneously it was reported that the remainder of 2nd Bn. The Royal Fusiliers were advancing along the railway line towards Gillingham.
At 00:03 an umpire reported that an airborne operation was beginning east of Maiden Bradley.
At 00:15 it was reported that the road blocks NE an S of Maiden Bradley had been neutralized.
At 00:18 the attack the HQ of 2nd Infantry Division had commenced and two minutes later the operation was successful. The HQ was in Blue forces hands and the 3rd road block NW of Maiden Bradley had been neutralized.
At 00:32 5 persons in pyjamas were ushered into the command tent. They were identified as the GOC, his deputy commander, 2 COL's and 1 LTC.
At 00:33 A shot was fired and a COL handcuffed and gagged was placed with other handcuffed personnel outside the command tent.
At 00:48 It was reported that Blue forces had no casualties except 3 sprained ankles from the airborne jump. Red forces: 5 prisoners, 0 wounded and 128 dead.
At 00:53 it was reported that HQ, 5th Infantry Bde at Motcombe had been neutralized.
At 00:54 A signal from 2nd Inf Div recommends 01:10 to commence Phase 2. Signed Alpha 6. That's MAJ Carter, Sir.
At 01:06 an umpire reports that a detachment, 2nd Infantry Div. Signals had been neutralized. The location is Gare Hill, 5 km NW of Maiden Bradley.
At 01:10 multiple reports of artillery fire from Blue force along the entire front. The targets are Red force's artillery positions.
At 01:13 multiple reports of artillery fire now directed against front line units of Red Force.
