When we arrived at TRADOC there was message from COL Thomson to call him at the MoD. He put me through to Winston who confirmed that Daladier is to be the President of the Council and Minister of War so there will a meeting at 10 Downing Street tomorrow. We'll be having our own meeting at 08:30 in his office. I then spent 30 mins with Irvine explaining my conversation with Alfred Scammell and his projects. The 6x4 trucks requirement won't result in a single design being selected. Any firm with a good design will receive a contract because the armed forces will require trucks everywhere but I'm hoping to have a single design selected for army divisions, or RAF logistics, etc. I then had a short chat with John Gort and informed him that COL Wilkins is sending someone for an interview.
At home we had dinner then I spent time in my office preparing for tomorrow. I also hope to go to Edgware tomorrow afternoon to learn how the aircraft are built so that I am better prepared for the meeting with the carpenters in the evening. It'll be a busy day tomorrow.
